Steve Maynard and Ben Piccone from Flood Ford were named Co-Most Valuable Players in the 2024 Rhode Island Connie Mack Staye Tournament.

Led by the combined four-hit shutout of Steve Maynard and Ben Piccone, Flood Ford defeated Warwck PAL, 4-0, and captured their second straight Rhode Island Connie Mack State Championship.

Maynard, who threw 92 pitches in six innings, struck out seven batters. Piccone, who worked the seventh inning, struck out two batters.

Offensively, Flood Ford was led by Yadier Blanco (2/4, two doubles, one run and two rbi’s) and Cam Daley (2/3, one double and two runs).

Brayden Ogden pitched well for Warwick PAL. In 5 2/3 innings, he struck out ten batters and allowed only three earned runs.

Led by the pitching of Mike Manelli and timely hitting of Dylan Perreault, Warwick PAL defeated Flood Ford, 3-2, forcing a final game in the Rhode Island Connie Mack State Tournament.

Manelli, who threw 118 pitches, struck out eight batters and allowed one earned run on three hits in 5 2/3 innings.

Shane Moro, who picked up the victory, struck out one batter and allowed just one hit in 1 1/3 innings of relief.

Tied at 2-2 in the top of the seventh, Toll Gate graduate, Dylan Perreault, lined a single to left field, scoring Sam Shelton with the go ahead run. Shelton, who led off the inning with a walk, advanced to second on a wild pitch and moved to third on a fly out by Jack Cirelli before scoring the winning run.

Dylan Poloski pitched well for Flood Ford. In five innings of work, he struck out ten batters and did not allow an earned run.

Stephen Maynard, who had the only extra base hit of the game, had one double and two rbi’s for Flood.

In the Loser’s Bracket Final, Warwick PAL defeated West Warwick, 9-2.

After scoring five runs on two hits and three walks, Warwick never allowed WWCM an opportunity to get back in the game.

Dylan Perreault, who pitched the final six innings for PAL, struck out nine batters and allowed just one earned run on three hits.

Caden Denton, Zack Lawrence and Nick Andruchow each had a hit for WWCM.

Offensively, Warwick received two hits from Jack Cirelli and Shane Moro.

Incoming WWHS freshman, Michael Gallo, allowed just one run on one hit in two innings of relief.

Led by the combined no-hit pitching of Steve Maynard and Nolan LaPerche (pictured), Flood Ford advanced to the Rhode Island Connie Mack State Championship with a 9-0 win over West Warwick.

LaPerche, who picked up the victory, struck out nine batters in 4 2/3 innings of work and Maynard struck out five batters in the final 2 1/3 innings.

WWCM, which allowed eight runs in the last two innings, received a solid performance from pitcher Logan Dean. Dean, who threw a season high 104 pitches, struck out seven batters and allowed two earned runs in 5 1/3 innings.

Offensively, Flood Ford received two hits from Cam Daley (2/4, one double, one run and three rbi’s) and Ben Piccone (2/3, one triple, two runs and two rbi’s).
